Ten Years of Texas Acro Athletes at Nationals!

Acrobats all around the country are getting ready to leave for DesMoines, Iowa for the 2008 USAG Acrobatic National Championships. To all of you champions we wish you the very best of luck. To all those wonderful athletes representing Texas, you all comprise the 10th year that Texas Acro has sent athletes to the Nationals. The very first Texans to compete in the Acrobatic Championships were a Class 4 Women's Pair and Women's Trio from Trevino's in Lancaster (outside Dallas). In 1998 Jill McMillan, Chelsea Henretta, Keely Thomas, Sarah Stanton and Melissa Martinkus represented Texas in Dayton, OH, and later Texas Acro (which was formed in 2004).

A couple years later Brandi Lewis joined Trevino's Acro Team. Brandi is now the head Acrobatic coach at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Plano, Texas. She is also the Region 3 Director. The USAG has hired Champion Photography to be the national photographer at the Des Moines competition. Champion went to WOGA and photographed Brandi's athletes. These two photos are samples of their work. You will be able to order poster sized prints of your group.

And remember that you are part of a greater legacy. Not just the 10 years of Texas Acro, but Texas Gymnastics. Bela Karolyi came to Texas. Kurt Thomas came to Texas. Valeri Liukin and Yevgeny Marchenko came to Texas. Carly Patterson is from Texas. Nastia Liukin is from Texas. This is the company you keep. Good luck, everyone. Make this a memorable meet!
