Group Gymnastics

Group Gymnastics held in Dallas 2005

Group Gymnastics has two divisions: 1. Team Gymnastics which is competition in two events that are scored: JUMP (which includes two tumbling passes, two vaulting passes, and two mini-tramp jumps); and GROUP FLOOR (which is a choreographed group floor routine to music lasting 2.5 to 3 minutes). 2. Performance Gymnastics which has complete freedom in construction and no rules to speak of.

According to a release by the USAG there are more athletes in Group Gymnastics than there are in Acrobatic Gymnastics. While there are additional fees for registering as a Group Gymnastics program, I believe that the current acro community would benefit by participating in Group performances. Acro coaches could create group acro routines and perform them in the Performance division and not have to worry about rules. Cross pollination between both the Group and Acro programs would be mutually beneficial.
